Week 6 Friday

In preparation for Friday, I created two more detailed journey maps. One for the first day of moving into the cube and the second a normal day for a uni student. This helped my identity what parts of the day make them stressed for cooking.

Today we had another low fi prototyping session which was really helpful. For my prototypes, I have done an online survey to test my assumptions about student attitudes towards cooking. In class, I showcased mood boards to give them a visual representation and then asked them questions why they would use them, what they would add or change and what their first thought was and why. I found this session really helpful, I got a lot of good feedback and ideas I can explore further. I am confident I can move forward with the information I have found and develop and refine my ideas further over the holidays.

I had two variations for this idea and these were the results from my prototyping:

1:
  • Pop up cooking workshop by a chef outside tussock every day for a month
  • Each day could be a different meal/cuisine
  • Cheap and Quick 15 minute recipes you can recreate at home

What is your first thought? Why?
  • -          Like this option better than cube one
  • -          Might be crowded with lots of people
  • -          More of an experience
  • -          Can do the recipes at home
  • -          Love cooking classes
  • -          Fun
  • -          Connect with others
  • -          Better scope of food
  • -          Adaptable
  • -          Engagement might drop off after a few weeks

Would you go to it? Why?
  • -          Yes don’t know how to cook
  • -          Yes learn skills and recipes

Anything you would change or add?
  • -          Vouchers for massey students
  • -          Could be individual classes or as a group
  • -          Points / competitions
  • -          Hashtags – coolest meals wins
  • -          Submissions for recipes
  • -          Sign up list to keep numbers down

 2:
  • Popup cooking class every Monday night
  • Cheap and Quick 15 minute recipes you can recreate at home
  • Voting system for what style/kind of meal they make
  • Or multiple small classes at the same time for different styles/dietary requirements

What is your first thought? why?
  • -          Lunch time
  • -          Good to get to eat the meal at the time
  • -          Themed classes
  • -          Class levels skilled and amateurs
  • -          Kits could come with classes
  • -          Might not be available on Monday nights – rules out some people
  • -          Recipe guides could be re usable and washable

Would you go to it? Why?
  • -          Yes to learn basic skills
  • -          Get some recipe ideas

Anything you would change or add?
  • -          Start off every night then could be once a week for a semester
  • -          The first week of every month
  • -          More exciting than cube box
  • -          Less repetitive
  • -          Casual thing
  • -          Basic skills – learning portions
  • -          People can make time

  • The cube survival kit/starter pack
  • First meal package at the cube
  • Comes with essential recipe cookbook and basic ingredients

What is your first thought? Why?
  • -          Helpful
  • -          Could be a group activity to socialize and make friends
  • -          Recipes are good to get ideas
  • -          Eases in student

Would you use it?
  • Yes

Anything you would change or add?
  • -          Other tips for cooking
  • -          Need to differentiate from other food bags
  • -          Make it a group cook
  • -          Dietary specific options
