Week 11 Tuesday

Today in class I got thrown a bit of a curveball. My tutors thought my design style was too passive and the pastel colours didn't represent my projects values and gets lost in the crowd. It needs to be bolder and shout at you, more vibrant and loud. Considering I have finished most of the design part of the assignment I feel very stressed now as I basically have to change everything to suit a new style. Not the best start to the week as I still have so much to do with the added pressure and stress of redesigning my whole visual style.

So I started off by playing around with colour to make it more vibrant and bold as lots of other food posters use vibrant colours. I also was trying out different fonts that have a more bold look. I like the ombre effect with the stripes because it gives the impression of speed. I have also made the lines thicker and 5 of them to represent the "5" theme.

I started playing with colours for the different posters. I like the bright almost neon colours to make it stand out in a crowd. I also like the 5 ingredients etc down the bottom using rules to draw attention to it. They are a bit large atm and compete with the title a little bit so I will have to fix that. I am unsure of the font atm but I think the layout looks much better. Very poppy, young not passive or as nanaish as my last ones.

I have been exploring different fonts for the title that represents speed but are also bold and stand out. I like the casual script fonts as it suggests a quick hand written feel not sophisticated or high class. I still like my original font the best as it is intriguing and looks like a brush stroke quickly drawn across the page. It also contrasts with the idea of the F word connotations.

I also tried scaling the illustrations up to see what that would look like. I feel like it works well with the burger however the other two look a bit strange as you can't really tell what they illustrations are because my style is quite abstract. They also make the poster look very top heavy so I prefer my original layout style.
